| About us | 20 some years ago I got involved in Animal Welfare, when I happened to notice a little tiny sign nailed to a post that said "Animal Shelter". I checked out that little tiny Animal Shelter and discovered it was nothing more than a killing pound, where animals, sick, injured, and healthy, were tossed, just to await their turn in the Euthenaire Chamber. That chamber had already been outlawed as "inhumane" in 26 other states at the time, but here was my local shelter using it. With no desire to stop. I banded a few citizens together, and we eventually, through public pressure, got the chamber replaced with injection. But to this day, my heart just breaks from the site of the black plastic bags, containing the bodies of animals who never asked to be brought into this world, let alone put to death for the crime of being unwanted. I made a resolution at that time that some day, when I could do it right, I would work on spaying and neutering promotion. |
